a good rehearsal studio can be tough to find. one you don't have to book so far in advance that your bass player has a kid and moves to coffs harbour is even more so.

we're lucky that in melbourne there's some pretty great places to jam. -there's places with loads of charm and others that are more about function and practicality.

-we reckon we're both.

scroll down to take a look.

Plastic Jungle Recording

Plastic Jungle Recording

boutique recording, done affordably

bounce off the rest of your band, not the walls in our freshly treated, massive band-sized live space.

DSCF8731.jpg

so norman on keytar & helga on bongos have finally turned up to rehearsal & are locking together nicely in that middle 8? capture that energy by tracking the band together in our huge live room.

-still waiting on gary to learn his instrument? take control by capturing everything separately in all it's isolated glory.

the option is yours!

Rehearse With The Same Gear As The Venue You're Playing

Rehearse With The Same Gear As The Venue You're Playing

Why Rehearse Blindfolded?

sure, larry on guitar should seek help for that nasty skin condition and glen on marimba keeps giving you stink-eye because he knows you fed his goldfish to his cat, -but there's really no good reason why you shouldn't practice with as many of the sound altering elements you'll be performing live with.

vocal compression in every studio

there's a time and a place for a drunken late night karaoke bar session. -late at night and in a karaoke bar..

yeah good one dad, what's your point?

not sure, -but for the same reason it's a good idea to mix a recording with accurate monitors (which we also have in every room) it's also wise to rehearse with as many of the same elements (like compression) that venues or recording studios have.

that way you go in to your gig, tour or recording with as few variables as possible.*

*apart from colin on keys, he's loose..

air con & heating in every studio

subscribers to the theory that D.O.D.O. asphyxiation (drummer odour dutch oven) can be bad for business, laneway studios is an entirely air conditioned, heated and ventilated affair.

this allows for a superior ratio of jamming to showering!

easy (street) access

roll straight in. -there ain't a step in the building!

bring ol' betsy up the lane and in you go.

after that there's tons of unrestricted parking out on the industrially abandoned street for yer!
